GRANNIES ARE THE BEST.

WHO NEEDS A dose of the warm fuzzies? Because we’ve got some right here for you.

Earlier this month, Arizona woman Wanda Dench sent a text to her grandson inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner – what she didn’t realise is that she’d gotten the number wrong, and sent a text to 17-year-old Jamal Hinton instead.

Assuming it was his own grandmother texting off a new number, he asked her for a picture:

Yep. Not his grandma.

After they cleared things up, Hinton jokingly asked if he could still head down for dinner on Thanksgiving anyway. And Dench said yes:

Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do… feed everyone!

Aww.

Hinton, amused at the exchange, posted the screenshots of the texts on Twitter, where they were retweeted hundreds of thousands of times.

The thing is, Dench truly meant it. She extended a real invitation to Hinton to have dinner with her, and he joined the Dench crew yesterday for a quick bite before running off to his own family get-together.

Dench told CNN that she was delighted to get the chance to chat to him:

He was just as nice as could be. We got to eat food, and he told me about his plans for the future, and I am just so excited for him.

“If you have an opportunity to do something kind for somebody, please, please do it. It’s a good feeling to give kindness, and it’s a wonderful feeling to receive it.”
